My name is Sheri Bone and I am the Group and Grant Coordinator at the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC).
I am pleased to let you know that PEEC has received grant funding from the William Penn Foundation to bring Philadelphia students to the Poconos for a 3 day/2 night field trip to do extensive watershed study classes. ? We call this our WATER! Program, and it stands for “Watershed Awareness – Teaching Everyone Responsibility!” I hope that student from Sayre HS are among the Philadelphia students that are taking us up on this offer.

Because you might not have heard about PEEC, please take a moment to watch this little video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RG9ixuGAt4&feature=youtu.be

And to explain some details about the WATER! Program, I would like to attach 2 sheets – one is an overview of what the program looks like, and the other is a costs sheet, but I don’t see a place for me to do that.
This program will only require $30/student to attend, and includes linens, s’mores, and all of the classes that the students will be taking. Our lodging is modern, with group lodges or smaller cabins equipped with bunk beds, bathrooms (flush toilets, showers, sinks, all with privacy doors/curtains), heat, and electricity. ? Food is made in house in our beautiful Dining Hall that you will have seen in the video. (Also, there is money available to help defray transportation costs. $20/student that actually attends.)
Here’s a link to our Program Planning Packet (PPP) – http://www.peec.org/images/2020%20PEEC%20PPP%20Final.pdf

Because there are only 4 mandatory classes, you have between 6-8 classes that you can choose for your students to take. See pages 5-9 for a listing of these classes.

I hope that this email has piqued your interest in having students come to the Poconos for a really great educational opportunity.

I hope to hear from you soon with your questions, and possible dates that your students can come here! Keep in mind that I (and/or other PEEC staff) can come talk with parents, students, and chaperones to answer questions before the trip. We have many Philadelphia schools that come to PEEC for this and other programs, so we are ready to answer any questions that your students might have about a field trip ‘in the woods!’ ?

Please contact me soon!

Sincerely,
Sheri Bone
